Leadership coaching, education and training gain the most traction when championed by senior leadership. Students receiving training without the support and connectivity of senior leadership become disenchanted when they discover that what they are learning is not a practice found or valued in their workplace.
Turnleaf was founded in 2019 with the objective of developing leaders who thrive in their organizations. Working with dynamic leadership mentors and organizations, coupled with decades of practical experience in leading high-performing leaders, this is not merely an exercise in academics. We use a customized approach with sound concepts and follow-up to ensure there is progress.
We will review your organizational values and help to strengthen them or help to create them if need be. We start with the values trust, recognition, accountability, personal development and joy in the workplace. We will stay personally connected to both senior management and the leaders to ensure that we are aligned in the values, expectations and behaviors that bring about strong leadership, resulting in better retention of dynamic employees and better customer retention.
We will not be delivering a generic program that can be given by a website or AI.
Trust is the foundation of your organization. Team members who do not trust, or who do not feel trusted are mired in a workplace teeming with micro-management, office politics and dysfunctional relationships. We work with the leadership team to establish and keep trust throughout the organization. Grant trust to newcomers and those who violate trust can no longer be part of the team.
Recognition for meeting and exceeding expectations will motivate and inspire team members to repeat approved behaviors. If you make a spectacle of it, there is a strong possibility that it will backfire, with others saying, “I do the same and don’t get recognized.” Ignoring good behaviors is a risky proposition. Be personal and authentic with your recognition and you are rewarded. Add a bit of wind to their emotional sails.
Accountability for performance below standards creates the opportunity for improvement. Accountability is a welcomed exercise in learning, a tool to set boundaries and performance expectations, and a means to prevent egregious behavior from repeating. Good employees who value standards get disheartened when they see poor performances are not held accountable.
Personal Development helps individuals become clear about what is important to them and drives performance and commitment. Ignore the development of your team members and lose them to an employer who seems to care more. When your team understands that they are gaining skills that they can use on their “next job,” they will first consider where they acquired those skills.
Joy in the Workplace keeps team members engaged, improves attendance, productivity, and teamwork. Joyless workers are a burden to the overall attitude and performance of themselves and those around them.
